Our rustic bakery is open 7 days a week providing fresh daily... sourdough, rye and yeasted breads, cakes, croissants, gingerbread, danishes, shortcakes, muffins, quiches, pies, pasties, fresh sandwiches and the list goes on. All of our delicious food is hand-made by us right down to the homemade jam, mayo, muesli and chai.
Our Gluten free range of breads and cakes are quickly becoming famous around Melbourne.
Pop in today for a creamy latte made with Genovese coffee while you enjoy a hand crafted croissant or enjoy a vegetarian cornish pasty and iced chocolate for lunch followed by some linzer torte or a gluten free hazelnut and raspberry cup cake.
Looking for a late weekend breakfast? Try our french toast with cream, maple and spiced blueberries or the 3-egg herb and cheese omelette on sourdough toast. You won't be disappointed!
Knead Bakers breads are made using traditional slow fermentation processes of between 8 and 6 hours depending on the loaf. Not only do the breads develop chewy crusts and flavour, but this age old process gives the bread a longer life, and improves the capacity for nutritional absorption within our bodies.
Hand worked bread can vary from day to day. This is one of the features of the bread, and a challenge each day to perfect the loaves that are made in the Hawthorn Bakery.
Organic Flours are used in Knead Bakers breads. Both growing and preparing foods in a smaller scale allows an appreciation and patience for natural processes, with the long term health and sustainability of those eating, preparing and growing the produce in mind.
